Superhuman buys Fathom, the AI meeting notetaker
Superhuman announced it acquired Fathom, an AI meeting partner that captures, searches, and acts on what happens in meetings. Superhuman plans to bring Fathom’s notetaking into its suite spanning email, calendar, collaborative documents, and databases, and to feed that meeting context into Superhuman Go — its proactive AI assistant across apps and websites.
A major AI productivity suite just bought a category-leading meeting notetaker so agents can use what was said in calls, not only what was typed in email and docs. That is a concrete step from “summarize this Zoom” toward meeting memory inside the rest of work.
Superhuman, the AI productivity platform formerly known as Grammarly, said via its company blog and a Business Wire release on 14 Sep 2026 that it acquired Fathom, described as an AI meeting partner — software that records or transcribes meetings, then writes summaries and action items. An AI notetaker is that kind of tool. Superhuman said Fathom is trusted by hundreds of thousands of companies to capture, search, and act on what happens in meetings. That company announcement is the filing event. These are company claims. No purchase price was disclosed.
Superhuman said it plans to bring Fathom’s AI notetaking into its suite of apps and agents spanning email, calendar, collaborative documents, and databases.
Meeting intelligence, as Superhuman tells it, is meant to help Superhuman Go — the company’s proactive AI assistant, said to work across 1 million apps and websites — and agents available through Go deliver more relevant help.
Company framing: most AI notetakers stay siloed — stuck in their own app — from the rest of work. Superhuman wants meeting transcripts, decisions, and action items available as shared context for teams and agents across connected workflows.
Example use, as the company illustrates it, not as a shipped guarantee: a Go agent could review a standup transcript, draft status updates into Superhuman Docs or a project tracker, and notify a manager to review and approve them.
Fathom capabilities named by the company: high-quality meeting capture with bot-free options — capture without a visible meeting bot joining the call — live summaries as meetings unfold, integrations into CRMs, LLMs, and other productivity tools, and searchable conversations. CRM means customer relationship management software, the system a sales or support team uses to track accounts. LLM means large language model, the kind of AI that reads and writes text.
Traction claims, as company marketing: trusted by hundreds of thousands of companies; named on G2’s 2026 Best Software Awards Top 100; named HubSpot’s 2025 Most Used App of the Year. G2 is a software-review site.
Shishir Mehrotra, CEO of Superhuman, quoted on the same pages: “Superhuman users have been asking for an integrated notetaker for a long time.” And: “Meeting notes are one of the clearest, most valuable places where AI can help, and it’s one of the categories I’ve spent the most time with.” They are not an independent product review.
Richard White, founder and CEO of Fathom, quoted: “The vast knowledge in your company is spoken, not written; it lives in meetings, calls, and conversations.” He said Fathom captures that knowledge as it happens, with transcripts and summaries also available bot-free, and that joining Superhuman lets that context travel to inbox, docs, and other apps. They are not a close-date notice.
About Superhuman, as the company’s bio has it: formerly Grammarly; an AI productivity platform; claims 40 million people, 50,000 organizations, and 3,000 educational institutions. “formerly Grammarly” wording.
About Fathom, as the same pages have it: backed by Telescope Partners, Maven Ventures, Character, Active Capital, Rackhouse Ventures, and more than 1,300 individual investors. This announcement is not a new funding round.
