Apple unveils HomeView, a $299 smart display built around Siri AI that knows who is looking at it
Apple on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, introduced HomeView, a 7-inch smart home display powered by Apple Intelligence with Siri AI, the conversational new Siri. It recognizes household members by their faces and shows each one their own content, and it doubles as a speaker, FaceTime screen and smart home dashboard. HomeView costs $299 in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, with pre-orders starting today and availability Nov. 13. Apple also announced a new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 with Siri AI and a line of LG and Schneider Electric smart home accessories.
Amazon and Google have sold kitchen screens for years and are racing to put their own AI assistants on them; Apple shows up late, betting its rebuilt Siri is the reason to buy one. HomeView is less a gadget than a Siri AI delivery device: a screen that sits in the middle of your house, knows your face, and reads your texts back to you once it's sure it's you. Apple's privacy engineering here is serious, with face and mic data walled off in the chip. But the fine print matters too: the smart part is a beta, usage limits already apply, and Apple says expanded access will eventually cost extra. The EU doesn't get one at all, which is a neat summary of where AI regulation and AI products now collide. Not a bad deal at $299, as long as you're comfortable with your kitchen recognizing you.
Apple introduced Apple HomeView on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026: a smart home display with a 7-inch Liquid Retina display on a domed speaker base, powered by the A18 chip and Apple Intelligence with Siri AI. It plays music, makes FaceTime calls, shows photos and recipes, and acts as a smart home dashboard. A separate wall-mounted model uses mounts from Schneider Home. Those lines are Apple’s.
Price and dates, as Apple prints them: $299 (U.S.) for the tabletop model in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray, and $299 for the wall-mounted model in space gray and silver. Pre-orders started Oct. 13 in the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, India and New Zealand, with Singapore on Oct. 15. Availability begins Friday, Nov. 13. Apple says HomeView is not available for sale in the European Union because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the EU, and that it is “working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward.” Those lines are Apple’s.
Face recognition: HomeView recognizes up to six people by their faces and gives each a personalized Home Screen. Personal content from Messages, Calendar and other apps is shown only when the enrolled user is recognized and their paired iPhone or iPad is present and recently unlocked. Those lines are Apple’s.
Siri AI on HomeView is the new Siri, which Apple calls “profoundly more capable and conversational,” with broad world knowledge for anyone in the home. Paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, it can draw on a user’s personal context — Calendar, Messages and other apps — and take action across apps. Conversations continue in the Siri app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch or Vision Pro. Siri AI on HomeView is a beta in HomeView software 27.2, English-only at launch. Apple says server-side Apple Intelligence features are subject to daily usage limits, and “expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future.” Those lines are Apple’s.
Privacy, as Apple describes it: camera and microphone data is processed in Secure Exclaves on the A18 that Apple says cannot be accessed by HomeView software, apps, the user or Apple. A Secure Exclave, here, is a walled-off part of the chip. Siri requests use on-device processing or Private Cloud Compute, Apple’s locked-down cloud. Those lines are Apple’s.
Smart home: control by touch or voice, up to nine camera feeds at once, end-to-end encrypted recognition of people, pets, packages and vehicles with an iCloud+ subscription, and alerts for smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds. It works with Apple’s new Home Collection accessories made with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric — cameras, thermostats, a video doorbell and a door lock, from December — and with Matter devices. Matter is a common smart-home standard so gadgets from different brands can talk to each other. Those lines are Apple’s.
Greg Joswiak, Apple senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said: “Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by everyone in the home yet feel completely personal to each user. And it’s powered by Apple Intelligence with Siri AI at its core.” That quotation is his, on Apple’s Newsroom page.
The same day, Apple announced a new Apple TV 4K at $299, with faster performance, far-field microphones and full-screen Siri AI, due Nov. 13, and HomePod mini 2 at $149, due Oct. 30, which gets Siri AI in a future software update. Those lines are Apple’s same-day Newsroom posts.
The Verge’s hands-on: Siri AI on HomeView is the same assistant that arrived on iPhone with iOS 27, with no display-specific features. Chained requests for home devices are limited: lights in two rooms, yes; locking the door and adjusting the thermostat in one command, no. CNBC said the accessories were positioned as a showcase for Siri abilities released last month. Those lines are The Verge’s and CNBC’s.
The picture is Apple’s official Newsroom photograph of HomeView on a wooden living-room credenza, its 7-inch screen showing a 68-degree thermostat and home controls. It is the company’s product photo. The frame does not print a calendar date.
In plain terms, Apple said on Tuesday that HomeView is a $299, 7-inch home screen that recognizes up to six faces, shows each person their own messages and calendar, and runs the rebuilt Siri. Pre-orders started today. It ships Nov. 13. It will not be sold in the European Union. The smart part is a beta, usage limits already apply, and Apple says expanded access will cost extra later.
