ChatGPT stops just talking: GPT-6 arrives for everyone with answers built from charts, diagrams and buttons

OpenAI said on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, that GPT-6 is rolling out globally in ChatGPT together with a new feature it calls Intelligent UI. Instead of only writing paragraphs, ChatGPT can now mix text with diagrams, charts, forms, tappable buttons and small interactive tools, deciding on its own what fits your question. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users get it starting today; free and Go users get it on Thursday, Oct. 8.

For three years the chatbot has been a very smart wall of text. This is OpenAI deciding the answer itself should be the app: ask how a bike's gears work and you get a diagram you can poke, ask to split a dinner bill and you get a calculator. That matters because ChatGPT is the AI most regular people actually use, and on Thursday the free tier gets it too, so this is the default way a huge number of people will meet AI, not a lab demo. It also nudges ChatGPT further into territory owned by search pages, spreadsheets and little single-purpose apps. The fair caveat: a confident chart is still only as right as the model behind it, and a slick interactive answer can make a wrong number look more trustworthy, not less. Prettier is not the same as truer. Still, if it works, the days of copying a ChatGPT answer into a spreadsheet to make it useful might be numbered.

On Wednesday, 7 October 2026, OpenAI announced that GPT-6 is rolling out globally in ChatGPT with Intelligent UI. OpenAI’s news feed titles the post “GPT-6 and Intelligent UI for everyone.” It describes Intelligent UI as “faster responses with visuals and interactive experiences you can explore and use directly.” Those lines are OpenAI’s.

With Intelligent UI, GPT-6 composes answers from text, visuals, and interactive elements, choosing how they fit together based on the question. Answers can include graphics and charts to explain an idea, plus tappable buttons, forms, and interactive tools. Those lines are OpenAI’s, from its launch post.

OpenAI says it trained GPT-6 to decide when a visual works better than text and how to format it. One OpenAI example, as The Verge reports it: ask about a seven-speed bicycle and ChatGPT draws a diagram with buttons that highlight different parts. Users can also ask it to build a small tool for a task, such as a calculator, right inside the reply.

The visuals can be dialed back. Like other ChatGPT personality settings, users who want fewer visuals can turn them down. That line is TechCrunch’s account of the launch.

OpenAI also says GPT-6 makes ChatGPT better at web search, gives quicker partial answers while it is still gathering information, and showed stronger resistance to attempts to get around its safety training. Those lines are OpenAI’s, as The Verge reports them.

Who gets it, and which model. Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users get it starting 7 October 2026 and use the mid-range GPT-6 Sol model. Free and Go users get it Thursday, 8 October 2026, on the more efficient GPT-6 Luna. Mid-range is The Verge’s word for Sol. Luna is the more efficient model. Go is OpenAI’s lower-cost ChatGPT plan, next to Free. Those lines are The Verge’s and TechCrunch’s.

OpenAI first announced its GPT-6 models last month. This is the step that brings them to the main ChatGPT chat for everyone.

In plain terms, OpenAI said on Wednesday that GPT-6 is rolling out in ChatGPT with Intelligent UI, so answers can mix text with diagrams, charts, buttons, forms, and small tools the model picks for the question. Paid plans get it today on GPT-6 Sol. Free and Go users get it Thursday on GPT-6 Luna. Users who want fewer visuals can turn them down.
