Experian becomes first personal finance app inside Google Gemini
Experian and Google said Experian is the first personal finance app in Gemini’s Connected Apps ecosystem, so U.S. consumers who authorize the link can ask Gemini about their FICO credit rating and the factors behind it — and new users can join Experian at no cost through that flow.
FINANCE desk — credit data is leaving the bank app and entering the AI chat tab, but only after the consumer flips the permission switch — identity and consent become the product surface.
What “first” means on the page. The highlights say Experian becomes the first personal finance app integrated with Google Gemini’s Connected App ecosystem, bringing Experian credit insights into that chat. A Connected App, here, means Gemini can call a permitted third-party app during a chat, after the person allows it. The how-it-works heading on the same release writes “Connect App ecosystem,” without the “ed.” File that spelling as the page’s. The steps later say a person navigates to Connected Apps. Those are three wordings on one release. Do not collapse them into one phrase the page did not print. First is the company’s claim. This desk did not survey every finance app inside Gemini.
Who can connect, and the price the release prints. Consumers in the United States will be able to connect with Experian in Gemini through a consumer-authorized experience and ask questions about their credit. Existing Experian members can connect their accounts. Consumers who discover Experian through Gemini can join Experian at no cost and establish a membership. No cost is the release’s phrase for that join. The page does not print a later fee, a trial length, or a paid tier. Do not invent one. Authorized means the person turns the link on. It does not mean Gemini already holds the credit file.
What a connected person can ask. The highlights say consumers who connect with Experian can ask Gemini about their FICO credit rating and the key factors influencing it. FICO is the company whose score the release names. A credit rating, on this page, is that score. The example the release prints is the question “@Experian, what’s my credit rating?” The person is then prompted to connect directly with Experian to receive the rating inside the Gemini experience. They can also ask about the key factors, which the release says gives context about where they stand and what may be affecting their credit profile. The release says the answers are personalized and meant to make the information easier to understand, combining Experian’s credit data with Gemini’s AI. These lines are the release’s. This desk did not ask the question.
Which score the footnote names, and which score it does not. A footnote says the credit score is calculated on the FICO Score 8 model. It also says a lender or insurer may use a different FICO score than FICO Score 8, or another type of credit score altogether. Score 8 is one model in that family. It is not a promise that a bank will use the same number. The release says consumers who want to view their FICO Score 8 will continue to access it directly through the Experian website or app, where they can reach a broader set of products, services, and capabilities. Gemini is an additional channel. The release does not say the chat replaces the website or the app. A common scale for FICO scores runs from 300 to 850. The release does not print those two ends. Do not treat them as a sentence on the wire.
How the link is made, in the release’s order. Users sign in to their Google account and open Gemini. From the Personal Intelligence menu they navigate to Connected Apps, select Experian, and choose to link and authorize access to their Experian account. Personal Intelligence is the menu name the release prints. They can also tag “@Experian” inside a chat when asking a credit-related question. After they authenticate, they can ask Gemini about their Experian credit information, including the FICO credit rating and the key factors. Authenticate means prove the account is theirs. They can manage the connected-app settings through Google’s Personal Intelligence settings at any time. At any time is the release’s phrase for turning the link off later. These steps are the release’s. This desk did not complete them.
The fence the release names. Experian’s connected app is consumer-directed. The release says consumers stay in control of whether their Experian information is connected and used. Consumer-permissioned is the word in the chief executive’s quote: the insights move into Gemini only with that permission. The release also says the collaboration is another way to engage alongside the products and services Experian provides directly and the experiences it powers for financial institutions and other clients. A client, here, is a business Experian already serves. These lines are the release’s. A sentence on a wire is not a privacy audit this desk ran.
The quote, and only that page. Jeff Softley, chief executive of Experian North America, said consumers increasingly expect to engage across the experiences and platforms that are part of their everyday lives. He said the collaboration gives existing members another way to engage with Experian and introduces the company to people who may be discovering it for the first time. He said bringing consumer-permissioned Experian credit insights into Gemini can help consumers understand their credit and put their own information to work for them, in addition to the products, services, and experiences Experian powers directly for its clients. That is his sentence on the release. This desk did not interview him.
What the companies say comes later, and what is not live on this page. They plan to build on the collaboration over time, expanding the Experian capabilities consumers can access through Gemini. The example the release names is subscription cancellation, which it says could help consumers save on unwanted subscriptions they currently pay for. Plan, and could, are the release’s tense. Subscription cancellation is not a feature the release says is available on 23 Sep 2026. Do not file it as live. A subscription, here, is a recurring charge. The page does not name a merchant or a dollar amount. Do not invent them.
What the about box says the company is. Experian calls itself a global data and technology company. It says it helps redefine lending, uncover and prevent fraud, simplify healthcare, deliver digital marketing, and gain insights into the automotive market, using data, analytics, and software. It says it assists millions of people with financial goals and with saving time and money. Millions is the about box’s word. The page does not print a tighter count. It says it operates in financial services, healthcare, automotive, agrifinance, insurance, and other segments. Agrifinance is lending and data around farms. It says it is a FTSE 100 company listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker EXPN, with 25,200 people across 33 countries, and that its corporate headquarters are in Dublin, Ireland. FTSE 100 is the index of large companies on that exchange. The site it names is experianplc.com. These lines are the about box. They are not a headcount this desk verified. The media contact is parked in the source note.
Plain English for the rest of the card. Connected Apps means Gemini can call a permitted third-party app during a chat. The highlights say Connected App ecosystem. The how-it-works heading says Connect App. The steps say Connected Apps. Personal Intelligence is the Google menu the release names. @Experian is the tag that starts the credit question. Authorize means the person flips the permission on. Authenticate means they prove the account is theirs. FICO Score 8 is the model the footnote names. A lender may use a different model. That warning is the footnote’s. 300 to 850 is a common scale for that family of scores. The release does not print it. No cost is the join for a new Experian member through this flow. The website and the app remain the place the release names for viewing Score 8 with the broader product set. Subscription cancellation is a later example, not a feature this page says is on. 12:00 p.m. Eastern is the FT mirror’s header, converted from 17:00 BST. The body dateline has the date and no hour. 25,200 and 33 are the about box’s people and countries. EXPN is the London ticker. Dublin is the headquarters the about box names.
PRIMARY here: Experian’s 23 Sep 2026 Business Wire release, “Experian Becomes First Personal Finance App Integrated with Google Gemini” — Tier A PRIMARY, the company’s own announcement. This desk read it through the FT markets mirror because the direct Business Wire page returned an access block. The mirror’s header is 17:00 BST, which is 12:00 p.m. Eastern. The body dateline does not print an hour. The joint announcement, the first-personal-finance-app claim, the Connected App ecosystem line, the Connect App heading, the Connected Apps steps, the U.S. no-cost join, the existing-member link, the FICO credit rating and key-factors line, the “@Experian, what’s my credit rating?” example, the FICO Score 8 footnote, the lender-may-use-a-different-score warning, the website-and-app line for Score 8, the Personal Intelligence path, the @Experian tag, the at-any-time settings line, the consumer-directed and consumer-permissioned lines, the Softley quote, the plan to expand, the subscription-cancellation example, and the about-box lines on FTSE 100, EXPN, 25,200 people, 33 countries, and Dublin are that release’s. NOT claimed: that this desk linked an account or asked Gemini, a fee past no cost, that subscription cancellation is live, that 300 to 850 is printed on the wire, that a sample number on the release graphic is a published average, a separate Google blog this desk did not read, an hour on the body dateline, that “first” was audited against every other finance app, a privacy audit, a stock tip, or investment advice. Distinct from the already-filed form3-agentic-payments, paywhere-ai-banking, bird-com-450m-agentic, and google-gemini-38-flash-tts.

On 23 Sep 2026 Experian and Google announced a strategic collaboration that makes Experian the first personal finance app integrated with Google Gemini. The record is Experian’s Business Wire release, “Experian Becomes First Personal Finance App Integrated with Google Gemini.” This desk’s request to the Business Wire URL returned an access block, so the sentences below are the release as the Financial Times markets mirror prints it. That mirror’s header is Sep 23 2026 17:00 BST, which is 12:00 p.m. Eastern and 4:00 p.m. UTC. The mirror points at the Business Wire source version. The body dateline is Costa Mesa, Calif., Sep. 23, 2026, and does not print an hour beside that dateline. The release says the collaboration expands Experian’s reach to one of the world’s largest AI platforms and creates a new way for consumers to discover, access, and engage with Experian through conversational AI. Conversational AI, here, means a chat you talk with, not a form you fill in. These lines are the release’s. This desk did not link an account.
