MediaTek unveils Dimensity CX C10 Max for Googlebook laptops
MediaTek introduced the Dimensity CX C10 Max, the first chip in its new Dimensity Compute Experiences family, built on TSMC's 3-nanometer process for an upcoming premium Googlebook laptop with on-device Gemini features.
HARDWARE desk — MediaTek is putting a dedicated 3nm AI laptop SoC under Google's new Googlebook category so Gemini can run harder on-device, not only in the cloud.
The press says the chip is built on TSMC's advanced 3nm process. 3nm is a very small chip-making process. Smaller usually means more transistors in the same space and better efficiency. MediaTek describes an All Big Core octa-core CPU, an 11-core GPU, and its 8th-generation NPU. A CPU is the general processor. Octa-core means eight cores. All Big Core means those cores are the larger, faster kind, not a mix of big cores and small efficiency cores. A GPU is the graphics block that draws the screen. An NPU is a neural processing unit, a block built for AI math. File that process and that block list as MediaTek's. This desk did not run a benchmark.
The product page lists the CPU mix: one Arm Cortex-X925 with 2MB of L2 cache, up to 3.73 GHz; three Arm Cortex-X4 cores with 1MB of L2 cache each; and four Arm Cortex-A720 cores with 512KB of L2 cache each. It also lists 12MB of L3 cache, 10MB of system-level cache, LPDDR5X memory up to 9600 megabits per second, and UFS 4.0 storage. The GPU name on that page is Arm Immortalis-G925 MC11, which matches the 11-core graphics block. A gigahertz is a billion clock ticks a second. File those names and clocks as the product page's specs, not as a score this desk measured. This desk did not time a core.
The press rates the MediaTek NPU 890 at up to 55 TOPS. TOPS means trillions of operations per second. It is a chipmaker's rating of how much AI math the block can do, not a count of finished tasks. MediaTek says the NPU is designed to power Gemini Intelligence features on upcoming Googlebook devices, with faster responses and additional privacy benefits. On-device means more of that work can stay on the laptop instead of a round trip to the cloud. Gemini is Google's assistant. File 55 TOPS and that privacy line as MediaTek's. The product page adds that the 55 TOPS figure is a dense rating. Number formats the page lists stay in Sources. This desk did not run Gemini on the chip.
MediaTek says the power-efficient design lets manufacturers build thinner, lighter, fanless devices with all-day battery life. Fanless means no spinning fan. That all-day line is a company claim. The product page says the battery estimate uses Google's Power Load Test with a 60 watt-hour battery, and that life varies with settings. File the all-day claim, and that test note, as MediaTek's. This desk did not time a charge.
The press also cites an Imagiq 1090 ISP that supports camera sensors up to 32MP, Wi-Fi 7 at up to 7.3 Gbps, and dual-engine Bluetooth 6.0. An ISP is an image signal processor, the block that turns camera-sensor data into a picture or video. MP means megapixels. Gbps means gigabits per second, a speed rating for the wireless link. File those names and numbers as MediaTek's. Phrases such as best-in-class camera quality are company marketing and stay in Sources. This desk did not shoot a clip or join a Wi-Fi network on the chip.
Vince Hu, senior vice president and general manager of MediaTek's Data Center and Computing business, is the named voice on the press post. He ties the chip to the next wave of intelligent computing for Googlebook. File the name and title as MediaTek's. His quotes are color only and stay in Sources.
Do not put this chip in the first Googlebooks for sale on 4 Oct 2026. Google's same-day first-look post says the company teamed with Intel, Qualcomm, and MediaTek, and that at launch buyers choose an Intel Core Ultra Series 3 or a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite. Google rates those launch NPUs at over 45 TOPS. It names five models, from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, on shelves 4 Oct 2026 in the U.S. WIRED's Julian Chokkattu, the same day, reports those five launch laptops use a Snapdragon X Elite or an Intel Core Ultra, and that none of the new laptops use the Dimensity CX C10 Max yet. MediaTek's own press says an upcoming premium ultra-portable Googlebook, not one of those launch machines. File the launch-processor choice as Google's. File the none-yet line as WIRED's. Google's wording is Core Ultra Series 3. WIRED's wording is Core Ultra. This desk is not merging those into a third name.
Do not invent independent benchmarks, a named shipping laptop, a price for this chip, or a head-to-head win against the launch NPUs. 55 TOPS is MediaTek's rating. Over 45 TOPS is Google's line for the Intel and Qualcomm chips in the first wave. They are not a lab comparison this desk ran.
Plain English for the rest of the card: SoC = system-on-chip, the main brain of the laptop. 3nm = a very small chip-making process. CPU = the general processor. GPU = the graphics block. NPU = a neural processing unit, built for AI math. TOPS = trillions of operations per second, a chipmaker's AI-speed rating, not a finished-task score. ISP = image signal processor, the block that turns camera data into a picture. on-device = the model runs on the laptop, not only in the cloud. This filing is MediaTek's Dimensity CX C10 Max announce. It is not a claim the chip is in the first Googlebooks on sale 4 Oct 2026.
PRIMARY here: MediaTek's 21 Sep 2026 press room post — Tier A PRIMARY company source, the originating English announce — plus the Dimensity CX C10 Max product page as product-home specs, not a second originating newsroom. INDEPENDENT: WIRED's same-day Julian Chokkattu report that none of the five launch laptops use this chip yet. Google's same-day first-look post is the company's own launch-processor line, Intel Core Ultra Series 3 or Snapdragon X Elite. Google's same-day intelligence post is Gemini-feature context and does not name this chip. The CX family launch, the TSMC 3nm line, the All Big Core / 11-core GPU / 8th-generation NPU list, the NPU 890 up to 55 TOPS rating, the Gemini Intelligence / faster-responses / privacy-benefits line, the fanless all-day claim, the Imagiq 1090 / 32MP / Wi-Fi 7 7.3 Gbps / Bluetooth 6.0 lines, and the Vince Hu name are MediaTek-attributed. The core clocks, caches, LPDDR5X, UFS 4.0, and the 60 watt-hour battery-test note are product-page-attributed. The launch choice of Intel or Qualcomm, the over-45-TOPS line, and the 4 Oct U.S. shelf date are Google-attributed for the first five Googlebooks, not for this chip. The none-yet line is WIRED-attributed. NOT claimed: that the C10 Max ships in the first five Googlebooks for sale on 4 Oct 2026, a named shipping laptop, independent benchmarks, a head-to-head win over the launch NPUs, a chip price, that this desk tested a device, a stock tip, or investment advice. Distinct from the already-filed eu-data-center-rating, amd-1-trillion-market-cap, and mediatek-dimensity-9600-pro.

On 21 Sep 2026, MediaTek published a press-room announcement from Hsinchu, Taiwan, introducing the Dimensity CX C10 Max. The company called it the inaugural SoC — system-on-chip, the main brain of a computer — in a new Dimensity Compute Experiences family, shortened to CX, and the flagship of that lineup. It said the chip is for an upcoming premium, ultra-portable Googlebook. That company press post is the filing event. These are company claims. This desk did not open a laptop.
