OpenAI launches ChatGPT Space so teams can work with ChatGPT and Dots together

At DevDay 2026, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Space, a dedicated place where teammates, ChatGPT, and a user's Dot can build on shared knowledge, with Pages as documents built for people and agents to edit together.

A chat thread is a bad place to run a team project. Space is OpenAI’s bid to make the shared folder where people, ChatGPT, and always-on Dots leave work for each other.

On Tuesday, 29 September 2026, OpenAI’s DevDay 2026 recap introduced ChatGPT Space. OpenAI calls it a new home for a team to collaborate with AI and get work done. A Space is a dedicated place where teammates, ChatGPT, and a person’s Dot can build on shared knowledge. Those lines are on the recap.

OpenAI says ChatGPT can keep a Space organized from instructions a user provides, so people can find what they need and pick up where they left off. Those lines are on the recap.

Who can use it, as OpenAI states it. Space is available to all Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans on the ChatGPT desktop app and on the web. Finding, reading, and sharing pages is also available on a phone. Creating and editing on a phone is coming soon. The recap and the ChatGPT Space feature page both say that. Neither page prints a dollar price on top of those plan names.

Pages are the document inside that workspace. The feature page calls a page a new type of document built for work you do with agents. On a page you can write, visualize, research, and code. You can ask ChatGPT, or a Dot, to organize the work with checklists, images, charts, and tables. You can start from a conversation: ask ChatGPT to turn it into a page, then share the page and invite teammates. People with permission to edit can work on the same page at the same time, and each person uses their own ChatGPT. Those lines are on the feature page.

The feature page says Library is now Space. Space is the home for the pages and files you create, upload, and share in ChatGPT. Collaborative slides and spreadsheets are coming soon. That rename, and that coming-soon line, are on the feature page.

Sharing, as the feature page states it. Sharing a page does not hand collaborators your private chats or your personal memory. Anything you or ChatGPT write on the page is visible to people with access, including personal details drawn from memory. OpenAI says to review the page before sharing it. OpenAI also says it does not train on ChatGPT Business or Enterprise data by default. On an individual account, that person’s own training and memory settings apply. The same page says a Dot works across the files in a Space. Wherever you already work with a Dot, in ChatGPT, in Slack, or in Microsoft Teams, you can ask it to keep a page up to date as plans change. Texting is coming soon. Those lines are on the feature page.

In plain terms, OpenAI opened a shared place where a team, ChatGPT, and a Dot keep work, and a document called a page that people and those agents edit together. It is on for Pro, Business, and Enterprise, on the desktop app and the web. A phone can find, read, and share pages. Making and editing pages on a phone is still ahead. OpenAI did not add a separate price on these pages.
