OpenAI launches Data agent in ChatGPT Work
OpenAI published a Data agent for ChatGPT Work that connects to company data sources and, the company says, builds interactive dashboards from ordinary-language questions.
Workplace ChatGPT now claims it can answer questions off a company’s own warehouses and drives, without writing a query. The connector list and the dashboard pitch stay OpenAI’s.
OpenAI published “Put data to work,” introducing a Data agent in ChatGPT Work, the company’s workplace ChatGPT plan.
OpenAI says the agent connects to approved data sources including Amazon Redshift, Datadog, Google BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, MongoDB, Snowflake, and more. It can also bring files from Google Drive and SharePoint.
The company says it uses an organization’s business terms and semantic layers — the named definitions a company already uses for metrics. Named examples on the page include Databricks Genie Ontology, dbt, GitHub, Snowflake Horizon, and BI (business intelligence) dashboards.
OpenAI positions the product to turn questions into analysis and interactive dashboards without writing queries. Connector coverage and that workflow claim are OpenAI’s. Partner quotes on the page stay partner quotes.
