Bristol Myers Squibb just led a $237 million bet on Pathos, the AI drug developer

Pathos AI said on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, that it raised $237 million in a Series E led by Bristol Myers Squibb at an approximately $3 billion post-money valuation, to scale its agentic AI drug development platform and push its cancer pipeline toward late-stage trials.

When a big pharma company writes the lead check, it's less a bet on a startup and more a down payment on a way of working. BMS isn't just buying equity here; it's buying access to Pathos's AI platform, an exclusive neuroscience window and a pile of Tempus data, all in one week. The circularity is worth noticing: Lefkofsky runs Tempus and co-founded Pathos, and Tempus is selling data to both. That doesn't make the science wrong, but the real scorecard is JSKN016 and the rest of the pipeline in the clinic, not who owns the shares.

Pathos AI said it raised $237 million in a Series E, a later-stage venture round, led by Bristol Myers Squibb. The round values the company at about $3 billion after the new money is counted. That after-the-money figure is what investors call post-money. Those lines are Pathos's, in its Oct. 23 announcement.

The money is for scaling Foundry, Pathos's agentic AI platform for developing drugs, and for moving its cancer drugs further along. Agentic, here, means software that can plan and carry out steps of the work, not only answer a question. Pathos says Foundry sits on a large multimodal oncology dataset, many kinds of cancer records in one pile. The pipeline named in the release: JSKN016, a TROP2/HER3 bispecific antibody-drug conjugate, moving toward registrational studies, plus pocenbrodib, AZD4241, which is partnered with AstraZeneca, and DO-2. An antibody-drug conjugate is a targeted antibody carrying a drug payload. Bispecific means it locks onto two targets at once, here the proteins TROP2 and HER3 on some tumor cells. Registrational studies are the trials a company runs when it wants the evidence for an approval filing. Those lines are Pathos's.

As part of the deal, Bristol Myers Squibb gets non-exclusive access to Foundry, so other companies can still use it, and three years of exclusive rights in neuroscience. Exclusive, in that window, means BMS is the one using Foundry for brain and nervous-system drugs. Those lines are Pathos's.

Pathos and Tempus will build a neurology dataset of 500,000 records, about 100,000 a year, to support Alzheimer's disease and other neurological drug development. Tempus's filing puts that deal at up to $55 million over five years. Those figures are Tempus's.

Separately, Bristol Myers Squibb signed a multi-year deal to license de-identified multimodal oncology data from Tempus through 2031, and to get access to Tempus's Lens platform. De-identified means the records are stripped of names. Tempus's filing values that oncology deal at $137.5 million fixed. Together the Tempus deals total up to $192.5 million. Those figures are Tempus's.

Iker Huerga is Pathos's chief executive. Eric Lefkofsky, founder and chief executive of Tempus, also co-founded Pathos. The releases include comments from Huerga, from Simon Davies at Bristol Myers Squibb, and from Lefkofsky. Lefkofsky, on the Tempus deal, said, "Together, we aren't just speeding up drug discovery, we are laying the foundation for a future where precision oncology becomes the standard of care for every patient." Precision oncology means cancer treatment matched to the specifics of a patient's disease, rather than one regimen for everyone. That quotation is his.

In plain terms, Pathos said on Friday that Bristol Myers Squibb led a $237 million round that values the company at about $3 billion. The drugmaker also gets use of the AI platform, a three-year exclusive window in neuroscience, and Tempus data deals worth up to $192.5 million. What still has to show up is the drugs in the clinic, starting with JSKN016.
