Amazon launches a 16-inch Echo Show, an Echo Studio with a camera and three more Alexa+ devices

Amazon said Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, that it is launching five new Alexa devices built for its newer Alexa, including the Echo Show 16 smart display and an Echo Studio speaker that can see the room.

Amazon's message is that Alexa+ finally deserves new hardware, and the hardware it chose is telling: more screens, more sensors, and now a camera in the living-room speaker. The board-game-box demo is charming; the cereal-reorder demo is the business model. The Echo Dot doubling as a Wi-Fi extender and smart-home hub is the quietly useful one. The skeptic's note: the most interesting device here is a speaker that watches your living room, so how Amazon handles what that camera sees will matter more than the bass numbers.

Amazon said on Oct. 28, 2026, that it is launching five new Alexa devices, and that every one of them ships with the latest Alexa. Amazon says hundreds of millions of customers are using the new Alexa experiences and talking to Alexa two to three times more. It says Echo Show is its fastest-growing Echo line, up more than 25 percent year over year. Those lines are Amazon's, from its device announcements the same day.

Echo Show 16 has a 16-inch HD screen that is nearly 40 percent thinner, with 10 percent more viewing area and 20 percent more power. An optional Nanomatte screen cuts glare by more than 90 percent. Nanomatte, here, is a finish on the glass that knocks the shine down. Full Fire TV is built in, so the display plays the same kind of streaming library as a Fire TV stick. Screen Styles turn it into a family organizer, a photo frame, or a smart-home dashboard with the new Alexa Home Map, a view of the lights, locks, and cameras in the house. Amazon calls the camera the best on an Echo Show yet: the widest field of view, auto-framing, and, for the first time, night vision for Live View. Live View is checking the camera from the Alexa app. Auto-framing keeps people in the shot as they move. Preorder starts at $499.99, or $569.99 for Nanomatte, with $100 off for preorders. Those specs and those prices are Amazon's.

Echo Studio with Home Camera is Amazon's best-sounding speaker, it says, with a high-excursion woofer, Dolby Atmos, and Advanced Room Adaptation. A high-excursion woofer is the large speaker that moves farther to make low notes. Dolby Atmos is surround sound that includes height, not only left and right. Advanced Room Adaptation means the speaker tunes itself to the room. The new part is a camera Amazon calls visual intelligence. Alexa can explain the rules on a board-game box you hold up, recognize a cereal box so you can reorder it, or let you check the room from the Alexa app. Video calling with compatible Fire TVs is coming. It ships today for $249.99. The regular Echo Studio, without the camera, stays $219.99. Those lines are Amazon's.

The new Echo Dot is the first with a built-in smart-home hub and a built-in eero Wi-Fi extender, up to 1,000 square feet. A hub lets Alexa talk to lights, locks, and thermostats directly. Eero is Amazon's Wi-Fi system, and an extender stretches the network you already have. Inside is Amazon's AZ3 chip with an AI accelerator, a section of the chip built for AI tasks on the device. Amazon says it has 50 percent more bass. It ships today for $99.99. Kids versions are $109.99 and include a year of Kids+. Those lines are Amazon's.

Echo Time is a camera-free bedside smart clock with hundreds of clock faces. Omnisense sleep sensing wakes you within 10 to 60 minutes of your alarm, during lighter sleep, with no wearable. Omnisense is Amazon's sensor system for reading the room, including sleep, without a watch. A sunrise display brightens as the alarm gets close. Amazon says it earned the National Sleep Foundation's SleepMark. It is $199.99 and available today. Those lines are Amazon's.

Alexa Photo Frame is a 10-inch anti-glare touchscreen frame with Alexa built in. It syncs Amazon Photos and surfaces the shots worth seeing while skipping screenshots. That description is Amazon's.

In plain terms, Amazon on Wednesday put five new Alexa devices on sale. The Echo Show 16, a 16-inch screen with Fire TV and a night-vision camera, is up for preorder from $499.99, with $100 off. The Echo Studio with a camera ships today at $249.99. A new Echo Dot, at $99.99, adds a smart-home hub and a Wi-Fi extender. Echo Time, a camera-free sleep clock, is $199.99. An Alexa Photo Frame puts Amazon Photos on a 10-inch screen. Amazon says people are already talking to the newer Alexa two to three times more.
