Firmus and Meta sign strategic AI infrastructure agreements across Asia-Pacific

Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus signed strategic agreements with Meta for GPU compute capacity at Firmus AI factories in Southeast Asia, built on NVIDIA’s full-stack DSX platform, including contracted capacity and expansion options.

Meta already runs NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra chips at Firmus in Melbourne, and it is now reserving GPU capacity at Firmus factories in Southeast Asia, with room to take more later. The dollar figure is still unpublished.

On Tuesday, 29 September 2026, Firmus and Meta announced strategic AI infrastructure agreements. The Firmus newsroom release is datelined Sydney. Firmus said the agreements cover GPU compute capacity at its AI factories in Southeast Asia, built on NVIDIA’s full-stack DSX platform. A GPU is the chip that does the heavy math for training and running an AI model. Full-stack, in that sentence, means those chips together with the networking and the software around them. Channel NewsAsia reported the same signing the same day, and called the sites Firmus data centres in Southeast Asia. The announcement is Firmus’s. The data-centre wording is CNA’s.

The agreements include contracted capacity and additional capacity expansion options. Contracted capacity is computing space Meta has agreed to take. An expansion option is the right to take more later. Firmus said the capacity will support Meta’s AI research, model development, and training. CNA reported the same split: contracted capacity and expansion options on Nvidia’s full-stack DSX platform, for that research, development, and training. Those lines are Firmus’s, and CNA’s account of them.

Meta is already a Firmus customer in Australia. Firmus said Meta is already using NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 systems at Firmus’s Melbourne AI factory. Firmus described that Melbourne site as the largest deployment of NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra systems in the Southern Hemisphere. Blackwell Ultra is NVIDIA’s name for that generation of AI chips. GB300 NVL72 is the system name on the page for the racks Meta is already using there. CNA reported the same existing Melbourne deployment, and printed the same Southern Hemisphere line. Those sentences are Firmus’s, as CNA also carries them.

The price is not in the release. CNA states that the financial terms were not disclosed. Firmus does not print a dollar figure for the agreements. Neither Firmus nor CNA names the Southeast Asia cities or buildings where the new capacity will sit.

Gaya Nagarajan, vice president of engineering for infrastructure at Meta, said: “We see Firmus as a long-term strategic infrastructure partner as we build for the next generation of AI across Asia-Pacific and expand the infrastructure supporting our AI research and model development efforts – the foundation of personal superintelligence.” That quotation is hers, as Firmus prints it.

Tim Rosenfield, co-founder and co-chief executive of Firmus, said the company is building for partners at the forefront of AI, whose models demand exceptional performance and who want the most compute from every watt of energy. He said that is the engineering problem Firmus was founded to solve. He also said Meta’s AI research and model development need infrastructure that can carry some of the world’s most demanding AI workloads, and that Firmus’s AI factory build-out across Asia-Pacific has the scale to support and grow those plans. Those sentences are his, in the release.

Firmus Grid Limited trades as Firmus Technologies. The release says the company designs, manufactures, and operates AI factories for large-scale AI workloads, and that its engineering joins computing, cooling, and power so each watt does more work. It says Firmus is headquartered in Sydney and provides AI cloud services across Asia-Pacific and beyond. Those lines are the company’s description of itself. They are not a price for the Meta agreements, and they do not name the Southeast Asia sites.
