Sokin plugs licensed payment rails into ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini via MCP
London-based payments platform Sokin said it released a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector that lets authorized finance teams use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity to pull live balances, FX quotes, and payment status — and to prepare beneficiaries, currency exchanges, and payment instructions that still need human confirmation and any existing Sokin approval rules before settlement.
Most AI-for-finance demos stop at chatty lookups. Sokin is wiring licensed payment infrastructure into the same chat window — with a human confirm step — which is the agentic-money pattern desks will keep watching.
Sokin, a United Kingdom payments platform headquartered in London, said via PR Newswire that it released a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector. MCP is a standard way for AI assistants to call outside tools and services with structured permissions. That company release, dated 14 Sep 2026 at 04:31 ET, is the filing event. This desk did not test the connector.
The company says the connector works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. File those names as Sokin’s list. This desk is not saying every model behind those products is wired today.
Sokin says an authorized user’s AI agent can retrieve live wallet balances and transaction activity, a current FX quote — foreign exchange, the price of one currency in another — for an exchange between supported Sokin wallets, the latest status of a payment, and the account details needed to fund a wallet. File those as company claims. This desk did not watch a live balance.
Beyond lookups, the company says the agent can prepare a beneficiary — the person or firm who gets paid — a currency exchange between supported wallets, or a payment instruction. In each case, Sokin says the AI assembles the full details and presents them for the customer to confirm. File the prepare-and-present step as Sokin’s. This is not a claim that the agent settles money on its own.
Human confirmation is required before anything settles, the company says, and any approval rules the customer already set in Sokin still apply. Sokin’s product page puts it this way: the AI does the typing, not the sign-off. File that as the company’s control claim — not as an independent security audit.
In testing, Sokin says the connector handled 10 multi-currency invoices and treasury moves in under 10 minutes. Those are company-claimed test figures. This desk did not sit in on the run, and the timing is not independently audited here.
The company says that capability sits on licensed rails Sokin already operates: licenses across 36 countries, and money movement to more than 170 countries in more than 70 currencies. File the license and corridor counts as Sokin’s footprint claim — not as a regulator roster this desk checked.
Vroon Modgill, founder and CEO, quoted on the PR Newswire release: “In an agent rush, the advantage sits with whoever owns the infrastructure underneath.” And: “The Sokin MCP makes our licensed infrastructure directly accessible where clients will ultimately conduct and orchestrate financial operations in the future; through AI.” File the quotes. This is not a market-share claim from this desk.
Pete Daunton, Chief Strategy Officer, quoted on the same release: “A read-only connector, which is what most MCPs in this space are right now, is a search bar with more personality. It tells a finance team where the money is and hands the work straight back to them.” And: “Our MCP reaches the tools that create a beneficiary, quote an exchange rate and prepare a payment.” File his contrast. This desk is not ranking every other MCP.
Sokin says customers already reach it through a portal or by embedding APIs — application programming interfaces, the doors one program uses to talk to another — inside their own platforms. The connector is a third route, through compatible AI tools. File that as the company’s product-shape claim.
CONFIRMED here: Sokin’s 14 Sep 2026 PR Newswire release, plus the company MCP page. PRIMARY company source — Tier A PR Newswire dated 04:31 ET; test timing and the 36-country / 170-country / 70-currency footprint are Sokin-attributed, not independently audited here. NOT claimed: a valuation, revenue, a user count, that this desk tested the connector, or investment advice. Distinct from the already-filed openai-chatgpt-financial-services — OpenAI’s own money-desk ChatGPT plan — openai-perplexity-gpt6-astra-systems — Perplexity as an Astra customer, not a payments rail — and openai-documents-agents-api — MCP inside OpenAI’s Agents API. This filing is Sokin’s licensed-rails MCP connector only.
