SPS Commerce makes MAX agentic AI generally available for supply chains

SPS Commerce said MAX, its agentic AI layer inside the SPS supply-chain network, is now generally available to fulfillment customers after early access. The same announcement expanded Visibility Management and Decision Intelligence so brands and retailers can ask questions, spot anomalies, and act on inventory and purchase-order risk using network data (company / Business Wire).

SOFTWARE desk — same-day company primary that a large retail supply-chain network is putting agentic AI into production for tens of thousands of fulfillment customers, not just a demo chatbot.

MAX, as the same wire has it: the agentic intelligence layer inside the SPS network. It guides customers through simple and complex supply-chain needs, identifies anomalies, and is meant to prevent errors that turn into costs. The company says it is grounded in how trading-partner relationships behave on the SPS network — the retailers, brands, and suppliers already exchanging orders on that network. File that guide / anomaly / grounded-in-network picture as SPS’s. This desk did not ask MAX a question or flag an order.

Availability, still company: MAX is generally available after an early-access program that the company says informed the product through hundreds of thousands of AI interactions across thousands of customers. It is initially available for Fulfillment and Visibility Management, with rollouts to Revenue Recovery and Decision Intelligence still to come. File that early-access / Fulfillment-and-Visibility-now / later-modules picture as SPS’s. This desk is not claiming MAX is live on every SPS module today. The release does not print a price. This desk is not inventing one.

MAX-powered setup, company: SPS says it has completed several waves of MAX-powered customer setup, pairing network intelligence with agentic tools. MAX now assists onboarding for many customers, including pre-sale context and account provisioning, so SPS teams can spend more time on the specific needs of the account. File that setup / pre-sale / provisioning picture as SPS’s. This desk did not watch an onboarding.

Agentic customer onboarding, still company: AI is now embedded across fulfillment onboarding, from contract close to first live transaction. An Onboarding Agent has already moved more than 300 customers to supplier readiness. During testing, a Validation Agent unified real-time network data, retailer and supplier maps, and the history of past trading-partner setups with consultant best practices, resolving errors an average of 29% faster; consultants review and approve every recommendation before it is applied. The company says brands and suppliers then reach full compliance with a new trading partner within 24 hours. File the more-than-300, the 29% testing claim, the consultant-review-before-apply gate, and the 24-hour line as SPS’s testing and product claims — not an independent audit this desk ran.

Decision Intelligence, company: an expansion of SPS Analytics into a single view of sell-through, inventory, and supply-chain signals from a brand’s retailers, organized around weekly decisions — assortment, inventory placement, availability, and forecasting. Sell-through means how fast goods actually sell at the store. Assortment is which products sit on which shelves. The company says brands can catch stockouts before sales are lost, flag items and locations that need attention, and act on margin risk in time. File that single-view / assortment / forecast picture as SPS’s. This desk did not sit in a planning meeting. Decision Intelligence is part of the announce; MAX’s own rollout onto it is still ahead.

Visibility Management, still company: connects ERP, warehouse-management (WMS), transportation-management (TMS), and carrier systems into one real-time view of purchase-order status. A purchase order, or PO, is the buyer’s official order to a supplier. Combined with MAX, Visibility is meant to surface potential issues — including “non-events,” the silence that signals a problem — before they hit revenue, and to bring suppliers into the fix automatically. File that ERP-WMS-TMS / non-event picture as SPS’s. This desk did not watch a silent PO.

Network scale, company: more than 300,000 trading relationships, 750 million-plus annual transactions, 400-plus system automation partners, and about $650 billion in gross merchandise value, or GMV — the dollar value of goods moving across the network before fees. File those figures as SPS’s about-box and wire numbers. This desk did not count relationships or audit GMV.

Context statistic on the same wire — attribute to Gartner via SPS, not as a survey this desk ran: more than half (55%) of chief supply chain officers are unclear about the return on their AI investments, even as AI accounts for 67% of supply-chain digital investment. File 55% and 67% as Gartner-via-SPS. This desk did not rerun the poll.

Named voices on the release: Mike Svatek, chief product officer of SPS Commerce; Allen Thompson, chief operating officer of RIP-IT; and Slava Syrota, chief technology officer of Ecentria. Thompson’s company-attributed anecdote: as a small, high-growth brand, RIP-IT has gone deep with MAX and has already saved countless hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars. File the names, titles, and that RIP-IT anecdote as theirs, via SPS. Their other quotes are color only and stay in Sources. This desk did not interview the customers or audit those savings.

About-box context, optional and company-attributed: SPS Commerce (NASDAQ: SPSC) is headquartered in Minneapolis, with nearly 3,000 employees. It says it is trusted by seven of the top 10 largest retailers and over two-thirds of today’s fastest-growing brands. File those about-box lines as SPS’s. This desk is not inventing a customer-logo roster beyond the quoted RIP-IT and Ecentria voices, a headcount audit, or a stock tip. NASDAQ: SPSC is the company’s listed ticker on the wire — not investment advice from this desk.

Plain English for the rest of the card: agentic AI = software that can take multi-step actions toward a goal, not just answer questions. GA = generally available, widely offered, not just a pilot. ERP = enterprise resource planning system, the company’s core business software. WMS = warehouse-management system. TMS = transportation-management system. PO / purchase order = the buyer’s official order to a supplier. sell-through = how fast goods actually sell at the store. assortment = which products sit on which shelves. GMV = gross merchandise value, the dollar value of goods moving across the network. non-event = silence on a feed that itself signals a problem.

PRIMARY here: SPS Commerce’s 15 Sep 2026 Business Wire company release — Tier A PRIMARY company source, the original record. The same-day company Innovation Drop page is company product-drop context, not a second originating newsroom. The MAX GA across the fulfillment customer base, the early-access hundreds-of-thousands-of-interactions / thousands-of-customers line, the Fulfillment-and-Visibility-now / Revenue-Recovery-and-Decision-Intelligence-later split, the MAX-powered setup and onboarding assist, the Onboarding Agent more-than-300 and Validation Agent 29% testing claim with consultant review, the 24-hour compliance line, Decision Intelligence as an SPS Analytics expansion, Visibility Management’s ERP / WMS / TMS / carrier / non-event picture, the 300,000-plus / 750M-plus / 400-plus / about-$650B GMV network figures, the Gartner-via-SPS 55% / 67% lines, the Svatek / Thompson / Syrota names, and the RIP-IT savings anecdote are company-attributed. Product claims, testing percentages, customer anecdotes, and Gartner figures stay attributed — not independently verified here. NOT claimed: pricing, independent ROI audits, independent customer counts beyond SPS’s figures, that MAX is available for every SPS module today, that this desk tested MAX, a stock tip, or investment advice. On 15 Sep 2026 SPS Commerce announced general availability of MAX, its agentic AI supply-chain offering, across its fulfillment customer base of tens of thousands. Generally available, or GA, means the software is widely offered, not just a pilot. Agentic AI here means software that can take multi-step actions toward a goal, not just answer questions. The company PRIMARY is SPS Commerce’s Business Wire release “SPS Commerce Brings Network Intelligence to AI, Enabling Supply Chain Leaders to Turn Investment into Insight,” dated September 15, 2026, ~10:00 ET, SOURCE SPS Commerce, and datelined MINNEAPOLIS. The same-day company Innovation Drop page is company product-drop context for the same announce, not a second originating newsroom. That company wire is the filing event. These are company claims. This desk did not run MAX. SPS’s “leading intelligent supply chain network” line is company positioning — not a desk ranking.
