Anthropic launches Claude for Financial Advisors, wiring Claude into wealth-tech stacks
Anthropic released Claude for Financial Advisors, a plugin that connects its Claude chatbot to the account-holding firms, portfolio software, and client-record systems advisors already use, plus ready-made skills for meeting prep, portfolio review, and follow-up paperwork.
Most of an advisor’s week is prep and paperwork, not sitting with clients. This is Anthropic’s company launch of a tool that sits on top of that stack — not a measured time-saved study, and not a sign-off from the U.S. securities regulator.
Anthropic published “Claude for Financial Advisors” on its Claude blog on 14 Sep 2026. Reuters’ same-day Bengaluru dispatch, by Harshita Mary Varghese, says the lab launched the tools on Monday. That company post, plus Reuters’ same-day pickup, is the filing event. These are company claims and a wire wrap. This desk did not install the plugin.
The product is a suite of connectors and workflow skills. A connector, as Anthropic uses it here, lets Claude read data from a tool the firm already runs. A skill is a ready-made workflow for one job — meeting prep, a portfolio check, a follow-up draft — using that connected data. Anthropic says the work stays in service of the advisor’s own judgment and house style.
New connectors named on the post cover the CRM, custodian, portfolio reporting, financial-planning software, estate tools, and meeting capture advisors already use. A CRM, or customer-relationship manager, is the client-records system. A custodian is the firm that actually holds client cash and securities. Named names include Addepar, BlackRock, Charles Schwab, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, Vanguard, and Zocks. They join connectors already in Claude, including Microsoft 365, Salesforce, DocuSign, Box, FactSet, S&P Global, and Morningstar.
The Claude for Financial Advisors plugin, which bundles the skills and connectors into one install, works with BlackRock, Charles Schwab, Addepar, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, and Zocks. Advisors pick which of those to connect during guided setup. BlackRock is launching its own plugin for Advisor Center, joining existing plugins from S&P Global and LSEG — the London Stock Exchange Group.
Named skills in the plugin: advisor onboarding; an alternative-investments brief — a meeting-ready summary of private-market holdings from iCapital or Addepar; compliance and AI-policy review; an estate and tax brief; a portfolio rebalance review that flags drift, meaning a portfolio that has wandered off its target mix, and concentrated positions; post-meeting notes and follow-up; pre-meeting prep; and prospect intake. Firms can use the skills as written from Anthropic’s skill repository, or adapt them.
Anthropic cites Kitces research that a typical advisory practice spends only a sixth of its time in client meetings, with the rest on prep, planning, and documentation. It also cites EBRI’s 2026 Retirement Confidence Survey — the Employee Benefit Research Institute’s yearly retirement poll — saying more than four in 10 American workers do not know who to go to for good financial or retirement-planning advice. File both figures as research Anthropic cited. This desk did not rerun those surveys.
The post says the product is built so the advisor stays in control. Claude prepares briefs, summaries, and draft analyses for review, and stages administrative actions such as CRM updates or draft client emails for approval. Investment recommendations, client communications, compliance determinations, and other regulated work “remain subject to human review and approval.” The compliance skill, Anthropic says, screens client-facing language against the SEC Marketing Rule — the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission rule on how investment firms can advertise — and helps firms document AI-policy and review workflows. File that as Anthropic’s product description. It is not an SEC product approval.
The advisor plugin is available today, the post says. Anthropic recommends Enterprise plans for registered investment advisers, or RIAs — firms that manage money for clients under U.S. securities rules — because those plans include the audit logs used for recordkeeping. Firms that request a new license before the end of September 2026 get a one-time usage credit. A walkthrough webinar is set for Friday 18 Sep 2026 at 11:00 ET. This desk is not inventing a price, a seat count, or an assets-under-management figure.
WealthManagement’s Davis Janowski interviewed Peter Nolan, Anthropic’s head of asset and wealth management. Nolan said the firm is not trying to replace the tools advisors already use — “think of us as a symphony conductor” — and that a typical advisor stack is about seven tools. File the quote and the seven-tool line as his, via WealthManagement. The same trade piece notes Anthropic’s announcement carried quotes from 18 industry leaders. Named on the company post: BlackRock’s Jaime Magyera; Mercer Advisors’ Daniel Gourvitch; Vanguard’s Sid Ratna; Schwab Advisor Services’ Jon Beatty; Ritholtz Wealth Management’s Josh Brown and Michael Batnick; and Dynasty’s Shirl Penney, among others.
CONFIRMED here: Anthropic’s 14 Sep 2026 Claude blog — PRIMARY company source — plus Reuters’ same-day pickup. REPORTED: WealthManagement’s Nolan interview. NOT claimed: assets under management, a price, a seat or adoption count, that this desk timed hours saved, SEC product approval, that this desk tested the plugin, a stock tip, or investment advice. Distinct from the already-filed openai-chatgpt-financial-services, sokin-mcp-payments, anthropic-second-profitable-quarter-ft, and anthropic-nasdaq-ipo.
